Arnold St. is named after the Arnold family:
Captain John Arnold: A United Empire Loyalist from New Jersey who fled to New Brunswick after the American Revolution before trekking to Thornhill in 1792. He was a veteran of the War of 1812, serving with the York Militia.
Robert J. Arnold: John’s son, who became a highly influential local figure. He served as the Reeve of Vaughan Township from 1861 to 1863.
